Lesson One

I must admit, humanity, I cannot give you the answers to life.

All I can tell you is what life has passed on to me.

Love your neighbour, know your vices well so that you may recognize your enemy when in battle.

Always do what is right and just, and remember that the heart is deceitful so do not follow it blindly, for it may be the end of you.

Seek inner peace in yourself and to be content with your circumstances.

Know the difference between peace and joy and embrace the two when you can but also learn to mourn and weep in humility.

Constantly give thanks for what you have, and count your blessings of the day before you fall asleep.

Respect your mind and your body for they will be your instruments of battle, both your weapon and your shield.

Remember that the journey through faith and therein belief is a personal one. Your fellow beings may prompt you, teach you, but these will only lie at the threshold of your mind. It is up to you to construct a path. Many will try to veer you off the path, and you may be seen as a fool. But there is hope even for the fool, for even he too may become wise. That is not foolish.

Educate yourself of the world, but also embrace experience. Remember that both good and bad experiences will be tools for your future.

Find a balance between rules that are written that must be followed and the inner attractions of your natural body. Do not restrict yourself completely to either one, but find a balance where you may find peace.

Do not let your imagination take away your present reality. The imagination can be all that you ever wanted but also can take you far away from your life, to distant lands that will not protect you, although it whispers in lies that it will.

Do not arouse, awaken, or feign affection or love. This can be challenging, but become friends first and learn about each other’s hopes and beliefs so that they may flow together in balance. Love will come when it feels that you are ready, teaching you patience in the meantime.

Remember that age does not always bring wisdom. Wisdom comes to those who take their knowledge and experience, learn from it and put it to good use. An elderly man will only become wise when he realizes his wrongs, forgives himself and those around him, and triumphs life with his own inner peace.

A wise man will know who he faces in battle in life, and he will be prepared with sharp eyes and a sharp tongue. Only through his wisdom will he defeat morality and humbly accept the Lord’s grace.

Do not compare yourself to your fellow beings. Do not envy them for their knowledge or experience. Especially their wealth. For a wealthy man will die like the beast without understanding even if he is surrounded by the greatest riches.

As your body, do not let your mind rule you. Let your spirit also engage in your movements and thoughts.

Do not gather hatred towards past lovers, rather, celebrate that you have both moved on to different parts of your life. Remember that the hatred you carry will be a poison in your stomach.

Remember that life is a battle. A battle where you will learn to fight your own vices. It is a personal battle that we all must fight. Learn to recognize your enemy, to use your weapons, and to continue on through inner peace when all seems hopeless. For your inner peace will be your strength and will be the food and drink of your spirit.
